Habitat restoration

‘Nature Preserve’….that’s our foremost mission:  to ensure that this area continues to serve its function to the many types of wildlife that rely on it.  All life needs the essentials:  food, water, shelter and space.  Places that provide all of the above are ‘good habitat’ and SWNP has provided it to a wide variety of  wildlife for many years.  In recent years, civilization has inched steadily closer bringing changes to SWNP’s boundaries and sometimes within the preserve.  Here are some of the things we’re doing to assess and repair those changes:

Planting local native plant ecotypes to enhance wildlife food and/or cover

Monitoring wildlife – bird surveys, aquatic surveys
